We have planned something really special for you! Now you can visit the big cats at sunset. Come and enjoy the early evening with your loved ones as the sun sets and the cats come alive after a long day of rest!

Sunset is a magical time of day here at Panthera Africa, and we love sharing this sacred time with our four-legged friends! We would like to invite you to join in this unique experience and if you’re lucky, you may even hear and see the lions roar!

Your passionate host will take you around to the big cat enclosures and tell you their heartfelt stories, and how they came to be at Panthera Africa. Enjoy the unique atmosphere as you observe and photograph the big cats at this enchanted time.

Only for people 16 years and older. 
Pre-bookings essential!

Only 25 places available for this experience so book now to avoid disappointment. Minimum amount of people: 4. 

Can't make it on a Saturday? We can arrange a special sunset visit for you and your loved ones on another evening in the week. Please book 3-4 days in advance. Subject to availability. 

Bring your camera, wear sturdy and comfortable shoes for your walking experience and bring a jacket for cold weather/wind.


Panthera Africa is a non-profit company with Section 18A Tax exemption status. All the proceeds from ticket sales goes towards the animals and creating a better life for them. All the animals were rescued from breeding facilities, and circuses. 

How to find us:

Stanford is situated in the heart of the Cape Whale and White Shark Coast about 140km from Cape Town, and is easily reached by car (1hr, 45 min).

You have the choice of two amazing yet very different routes.

Route one - Mountain pass
Follow the N2 from Cape Town to Somerset West. Enjoy the Journey over Sir Lowry's Pass, through Elgin Valley

Route two - Ocean view
Follow the N2 from Cape Town to Somerset West. Turn off onto the R44 to Gordon's Bay and follow the magnificent coastline road

Both routes join up with the R43 that leads you towards and through Hermanus to Stanford. When entering Stanford make a left onto the R326 towards Caledon / Riviersonderend. Continue on the tar road for approximately 4km and make a right turn towards Papiesvlei. Continue on the gravel road for 3.5km till you see the Panthera Africa sign on your right. Drive 1.3km, through the neighbouring farm, and follow the signs to the entrance.

Ghoelasjsop

6-8 porsies

 

1 kg dikrib

45 ml (3E) kanola-olie

2 uie, fyngekap

2 Knoffelhuisies, fyngekap

20 ml (4T) gerookte paprika

15 ml (1t) suiker

30 ml (2e) tamatiepasta

250 ml (1k) rooiwyn

2.25 L beesvleisaftreksel

4 wortels, geskil en in skyfies gesny

4 ryp tamaties, skil en gekap

1 bouquet garni

5 ml (1t) sout

5 ml (1t) varsgemaalde swartpeper

1 rooi soetrissie, ontpit en repies gesny

125 ml (1/2 k) room

 

Metode:

1. Sny enige sigbare vet van die vleis af en sny die vleis dan in blokkies van 2.5 cm.

2. Verhit die olie in n swaarboomkastrol en soteer die uie en knoffel vir ongeveer 5 minute tot sag en deurskynend is.

3. Voeg die blokkies vleis by die uie en braai dit effens.

4. Roer die paprika deur die vleis en maak seker dat uie en vleis goed daarmee bedek is.

5. Roer meel, suiker, tamatiepasta, rooiwyn en aftreksel deur die vleismengsel.

6. Voeg die wortels, tamaties, bouquet garni, sout en swartpeper by. Verhit die sop tot kookpunt, plaas die deksel op en laat dit vir ongeveer 2uur liggies prut tot die vleis sag is.

7. Blansjeer die soetrissierepies en voeg twee-derdes van die repies by die sop. Laat die sop vir nog 15 minute prut.

8. Verwyder die bouquet garni uit die sop en roer die room deur. Garneer met die oorblywende soetrissierepies en bedien dadelik.
