24 Hours of Oak Valley 2018 - Presented by Bikehub

Camp and ride your mountain bike OR RUN! at Oak Valley for a weekend.

The mountain bike event all outdoor enthusiasts are looking forward to!
We look forward to cooler weather as we move the event to April, whilst kicking into action again in the Elgin Valley with riding around the clock. And not only that – camp and socialize with friends and family. We have added for the first time a 24 Hour trail run for the rest of the family to enjoy.

Only pre-entries taken, so get your teams together and enter this fun event. There will be food & drinks for sale and the ever-needed coffee stand. Plus, good facilities and great prizes.

Dates: Saturday 14 April (12h00) – Sunday 15 April (12h00)
Mountain Bike and Trail Running

Venue: Oak Valley Estate, Elgin Valley, Grabouw, Western Cape

Format: Ride as many 10km laps as you want or can over 24hours.
The trail will keep participants busy with singletrack and jeeptrack sections. The course conditions even changes over night…

Run as many 6km laps as you want or can over the 24hours.

CATEGORIES for the MTB Relay:
• Solo - One person that rides as much as he/she wants during the 24 hour period.
• Open (single sex) - team of 4 riders.
• Mixed – team of 4 riders (A mix of male and female riders). There must be at least one person from the opposite sex to qualify as a mixed team.
• OneFourZero - team of 4 riders. Collective age 140 years +.
• Fun category - teams of 5-8 riders.

Note: For Solo, Open, Mixed and One Four Zero categories riders must be 18 years of age and an experienced rider.

CATEGORIES for the Trail Run:
• Solo - One person that runs as much as he/she wants during the 24 hour period.
• 4 Man Team –team of 4 runners

Entry fees (Entries will close 9 April): Same price as 2017!
R2100 (VAT included) per team (Teams of 4 riders and 2 support crew)
R2900 (VAT included) for fun category (teams of 5-8 riders and 2 support crew)
R580 (VAT included) for a solo rider - including 2 support crew

Entry includes:
1. Gate entry to the event (Saturday & Sunday)
2. Camping for two support team members per team or solo rider
3. Event entry fees
4. Campsite & facilities (Saturday night only)
5. Medical assistance 24Hours
6. Drinks at the start/finish area for 24Hours (for riders only!)
7. Charging stations for batteries available
8. Commemorative Medal to finishers that complete 8 laps & more
9. The opportunity to 'Discover the Soul of Mountain Biking'

Met komplimente van LAPA Uitgewers en is 'n samestelling van resepte deur LAPA uitgewers





6-8 porsies


1 kg dikrib

45 ml (3E) kanola-olie

2 uie, fyngekap

2 Knoffelhuisies, fyngekap

20 ml (4T) gerookte paprika

15 ml (1t) suiker

30 ml (2e) tamatiepasta

250 ml (1k) rooiwyn

2.25 L beesvleisaftreksel

4 wortels, geskil en in skyfies gesny

4 ryp tamaties, skil en gekap

1 bouquet garni

5 ml (1t) sout

5 ml (1t) varsgemaalde swartpeper

1 rooi soetrissie, ontpit en repies gesny

125 ml (1/2 k) room



1. Sny enige sigbare vet van die vleis af en sny die vleis dan in blokkies van 2.5 cm.

2. Verhit die olie in n swaarboomkastrol en soteer die uie en knoffel vir ongeveer 5 minute tot sag en deurskynend is.

3. Voeg die blokkies vleis by die uie en braai dit effens.

4. Roer die paprika deur die vleis en maak seker dat uie en vleis goed daarmee bedek is.

5. Roer meel, suiker, tamatiepasta, rooiwyn en aftreksel deur die vleismengsel.

6. Voeg die wortels, tamaties, bouquet garni, sout en swartpeper by. Verhit die sop tot kookpunt, plaas die deksel op en laat dit vir ongeveer 2uur liggies prut tot die vleis sag is.

7. Blansjeer die soetrissierepies en voeg twee-derdes van die repies by die sop. Laat die sop vir nog 15 minute prut.

8. Verwyder die bouquet garni uit die sop en roer die room deur. Garneer met die oorblywende soetrissierepies en bedien dadelik.
